Day two at sea was not much different than day one. We did sail through one big rain squall but that was it. As for tasks, not much different from yesterday either as it was continuation of yesterday’s work. I let the digital repeater sit on the bench overnight hooked to a steady power source. It did not extinguish. So this weekend looks as if I will be in the overhead looking at power source of the repeater on the bridge.
The seas were a bit rougher today as we are in the open. It is no comparison to Alaska or the Pacific Northwest this time of the year but it will move the chairs around but not to the point of spilling books off the shelves or items off the desks.
I received e-mails from several Ka’imimoana alumni. I would be in that categories as well as I still wear my worn out blue Hi’ialakai ball cap with my Navy AT (Avionics Tech) wings. My old KA cap spent too much time in the tropics and in order not to reek myself out, it went into the washer once too many times. Same with the old HI ball cap I wear now. I have a new one I use for travel and to wear around the shop in Seattle. I know I have a new KA hat but I leave that at home as those series of hats are no longer sold. I collect hats of ships I sailed on. The only one missing is that of the Cromwell. I did have its final voyage T-shirt and wore that out to a good conversation starter.
It is getting late and I have been staying up later than usual. I normally get good sleep while at sea but my schedule has been like it was over the holidays. I know it is a bad habit but usually get five hours of sleep when I am home. I will start writing about other activities tomorrow.
Aloha and goodnight from the middle of the Pacific.
